What does HIV science look like? Threads of Resilience translates scientific research, data and lived experiences surrounding HIV into a garment.

The question
Scientific knowledge about HIV usually lives on the page — in papers, charts and data. How could it leave the page and be seen, felt and worn?
The idea
Research becomes structure. Data becomes pattern. Stories become material.
The making
Developed in collaboration with HIV Unwrapped, Ophelia Hanyama, Anna Mia Ekström, Posithiva Gruppen, Sylla Couture and Karolinska Institutet, the project explores what happens when science leaves the page and enters the body.
The result
Threads of Resilience was created for HIV Unwrapped 2026.
Design becomes a way of making complex stories visible.
